District one commissioner Ben Greene is the new chair of the Kent County Board of commissioners.

Green replaces district 6 commissioner Steve Steck, who served as chair for 3 years and is getting used to someone else in the role.

Greene was first elected to the board in 2020, His district includes Rockford, Algoma Township and a section of Plainfield Township
“It really is a tremendous honor to serve in this position.”
Greene is 36 years old, the youngest commissioner to ever serve as board chair.
“I was telling my daughter we do this because we want to make the world a better place for her and for her brother and all the kids and grandkids. Looking forward to working together will all of you to see what great things we can continue to achieve for the county.”
