“Until a new permanent administrator is hired”
New Ottawa County board chair John Teeples wants an experienced county leader to serve as the next interim administrator
“Our former long term sheriff Gary Rosema.”
Rosema retired in 2016 after serving as sheriff for 23 years. If approved by the board, he will be Ottawa County’s fifth interim or permanent administrator in just over 2 years, expected to serve until a permanent administrator Is hired.
“Community members from throughout the county will actually participate in the selection of our next county administrator.”
When the Ottawa Impact Conservative majority took office in 2023, they immediately fired administrator John Shay and replaced him with John Gibbs. Just over a year later they fired Gibbs. Jon Anderson and then Ben Wetmore served as interim administrators. Severance packages and legal bills have cost the county hundreds of thousands of dollars. Teeples leads a new majority of the board not affiliated with Ottawa Impact
“The decisions we make especially regarding taxpayer’s dollars will be guided and made based on predetermined and carefully considered strategic goals rather than made for short sighted or impulsive reasons.”
