BAMF Health, which provides advanced diagnostics and treatment for various types of cancer and other diseases, will open its second comprehensive theranostics center in downtown Detroit.
The healthcare provider joins Michigan Innovation Headquarters, Ferris State University, Wayne State University and TechTown in Bedrock real estate’s 14-acre Gratiot Site, which it hopes will become a destination for precision medicine, life sciences, and higher education.
BAMF’s VP of Design, Real Estate, and Partnerships Laurie Placinski says expansion plans have been in the works for years.
“We’ve always said that we don’t want to keep this care only in West Michigan. Our goal is to ensure that all Michiganders and, even from there, all U.S. citizens have access to this type of care.”
Founder and CEO Dr. Anthony Chang says there’s a reason Detroit was picked for this new hub.
“We also can leverage innovative minds, like at the universities and what the city has, to keep advancing this technology to actually really impact, besides healthcare, the education and the innovation and entrepreneurship.”
BAMF plans to keep its headquarters in Grand Rapids. The new Gratiot Site is expected to break ground in 2025 and open its doors to patients in 2027.
