Ford and GM leaders ready to work with President-elect Trump

some of his policies may make the auto business more difficult.

During his presidential campaign...Trump pledged to levy huge tariffs on vehicles and auto parts made outside the U-S.

General Motors CEO Mary Barra says that could have a substantial impact on the automaker, which builds many of its products in Canada and Mexico.

But Barra says GM and Trump share the goal of creating a strong domestic manufacturing base and auto industry.

The head of the Ford Motor Company, Jim Farley, acknowledges that Trump could eliminate the current $7,500 rebate for customers who buy electric vehicles.

But Farley says Ford has the largest number of US employees of any automaker, and exports the most vehicles, so he believes Trump will strongly consider the company’s input.
