Four people were hurt after a car crashed through the windows of a Grand Rapids area Meijer store Thursday morning

Kent County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Cascade Township Meijer on 28th Street SE between I-96 and Kraft Avenue about 9:30 Thursday morning.

Officers say a black Subaru Legacy sedan smashed through the store’s windows near the customer service desk.

Their investigation shows the 29-year-old Grand Rapids man driving the vehicle had a “medical episode” and crashed into the store with the vehicle ended up completely inside.

Four people were hurt, receiving what police say are minor injuries.

The condition of the driver was not released.

Crews removed the car from the building late Thursday morning.

Meijer closed temporarily due to the cash registers not properly functioning but re-opened around noon.
