An immersive outdoor light show opens to the public Wednesday at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids

For several weeks, curious neighbors have been watching lights shoot into the sky above the East Beltline emanating from Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park.

Now the exhibit, called “ENLIGHTEN” opens to the public through January 4th.

“You can really enjoy the sculpture, gardens, our waterfall, in a magical and new way with lighting elements, musical elements, interactive elements. It's very hard to describe in words. I think people need to see it to believe it.”

Director of Communications John Vanderhaagen explains guests walk a mile-long path through the outdoor gardens viewing and interacting with cutting-edge light installations that blend art, music and technology.

It was created specifically to fit into Meijer Gardens by international show producers Lightswitch and Upstaging.

“Integrating light into sculpture, and a laser show at our waterfall - things you would never see anywhere else, or any other time of the year have been brought to Frederik Meijer Gardens.”

Timed tickets can be purchased on the Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park website and include entry to the building for the holiday trees and cultural traditions exhibition as well.
