The latest rankings for Michigan’s best high schools are out, and a Grand Rapids school ranks highest for West Michigan

City Middle High School in Grand Rapids earns number three in the U.S News and World Report rankings of Michigan’s best high schools, behind International Academy in Bloomfield Hills and the International Academy of Macomb in Clinton Township. That puts City Middle High at #44 nationally.

Other West Michigan schools in the state’s top 20 are #9 East Grand Rapids, #13 Black River Public School in Holland, #14 Northern High and #15 Central High both in Forest Hills, and #19 the West Michigan Aviation Academy, Grand Rapids.

Rankings include data on nearly 25,000 public high schools nationally with 673 Michigan schools making the list.

Schools were ranked on six factors based on their performance on state assessments and how well they prepare students for college including underserved student performance and graduation rates.

Rankings for schools of all grade levels, public and private, can be found listed by state at usnews.com.
