In Michigan it was the first presidential election with early voting.
Kent County clerk Lisa Lyons says the county received around 96-thousand early voters, making up about a quarter of voter turnout.
“There’s still a lot of excitement to come out to the polls on election day but having these secure and convenient methods for voters to choose how to cast their ballot I think was really important.”
Overall, Lyons says Kent County saw 70-percent turnout.
Statewide, Michigan saw about 79-percent turnout, according to the Secretary of State office.
