Early voting turnout heavy in Ottawa County

The Ottawa Co. clerk says some people face long waits before they can cast their ballot and he is working to speed up the process

“We certainly don’t want people waiting in line.”

Ottawa County Clerk Justin Roebuck says so many people are turning out for early in person voting some are waiting in line an hour or more to cast a ballot.

“Record turnout for our first really large election with early voting.”

“We don’t often see lines in Ottawa County for voting.”

Roebuck says turnout is heavy at all 4 early in person voting locations in Ottawa County. He is working to make the wait to vote as short as possible.

“Additional staff is coming on board making sure we can process people as quickly as possible.”

Early voting started Saturday in Ottawa County and ends Sunday. Estimated wait times at the four early voting locations are updated on the mi Ottawa dot org early voting website.

“People are engaged in the process excited to vote we are really excited about this as well it is so cool seeing our community showing up engaging in the election process which is so critical.”
