MI Senators Stabenow and Peters are among lawmakers who have signed on to letters of concern to the automaker

It comes as the international manufacturer that owns Dodge says it plans to expand its truck plant in Mexico to accommodate production of some Ram 1500 pickups

That vehicle is currently built at their Sterling Heights assembly plant.

The manufacturer says the move is about capacity, not cost cutting.

However, the UAW has been critical of Stellantis’s recent behavior saying it has not been honoring its union contract.

Stellantis recently laid off 11-hundred workers from the Warren plant and has still not reopened its facility in Belvidere, Illinois, which was a key point during bargaining last year.
