Spartan Bus Tour highlights scope of MSU’s statewide impact

The president of Michigan State University brought a busload of faculty and researchers to Grand Rapids Wednesday as part of a statewide tour

Grand Rapids is one of more than a dozen communities across lower Michigan the Spartan Bus Tour is visiting where MSU’s impact is felt through research, education, and outreach.

“I’m so happy that we’re here. I love seeing that Spartan logo up there on these buildings.”

President Kevin Guskiewicz is leading the tour, focusing on areas beyond the main East Lansing campus with contributions that make MSU a leading global public research university.

“That’s happening right here in Grand Rapids. We’re solving some of the world’s - not just Michigan’s biggest challenges and problems but the world’s – biggest challenges.

The bus with 75 faculty members and researchers aboard made a stop at the MSU Grand Rapids Innovation Park for a visit to the Research Center and College of Medicine.

“We’re training the nurses, physicians and healthcare providers of the future while also conducting some incredible research here in neuroscience and looking at health disparities in women’s health and that’s work’s happening right here along the Medical Mile.”

In addition to the main East Lansing campus, MSU has eight medical campuses around the state and an extension office in all 83 Michigan counties.
