“What we want to walk through here is how we see West Michigan coming out of this year and into next year.”
Dr. Paul Isely is Associate Dean and Professor of Economics for the Seidman College of Business at Grand Valley State University. He says this year’s summit is a prime opportunity for local business owners to gain insights into the region’s projected economic performance.
“We’re going to walk through how the uncertainty around the election is slowing things down now but will probably speed things up later.”
Isely says West Michigan is currently seeing a downturn in hiring for manufacturing jobs due to the uncertainty of the automobile industry.
“Because depending on who’s elected is going to make a big difference as to where that investment should happen, what types of cars people will be buying, and things like that.”
Isely and other speakers will touch on these topics and much more at the Economic Growth Summit which happens Thursday at 8 am at the Disability Advocates of Kent County Community Collaborative Center in Grand Rapids. More information can be found online under “Events” at SouthKent.org
