Less poverty, more with higher ed degrees, and an increased number of immigrants were some of the focal points

“Kent county is radically changing.”

Board of Commissioners chair Stan Steck says there is now less poverty in Kent County, more residents with higher education, an increased number of immigrants, an increased number of people.

“Kent County has experienced a higher population growth than almost any other county in the state our population is nearly 660 thousand individuals almost 100 thousand more residents than the turn of the millennium.”

“Much has been done to transform our growing and thriving community.”

In just the last year Administrator Al Vanderberg says Kent County has added sheriff’s deputies raised employee pay, voted to support a downtown amphitheater and soccer stadium and finalized plans to consolidate services in a new building on the county’s Fuller Street campus.

“The move will provide easier access for residents with ample free parking.”

“The county commissioners here regardless of party they share a commitment, and they want this county to be the best and that’s why we get things done.”
