Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer speaks during the Democratic National Convention Thursday, Aug. 22, 2024, in Chicago

Vice President Kamala Harris became the first black woman to lead a presidential ticket at last night’s Democratic National Convention

Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer was one of the featured speakers at last night’s Democratic National Convention, leading up to Kamala Harris’ acceptance speech as the party’s presidential nominee.

Whitmer used her time to draw distinctions between Harris and her GOP rival, former president Donald Trump.

WHITMER: “She’s lived a life like ours...she knows us. Donald Trump doesn’t know you at all. You think he understands that when your car breaks down you can’t get to work? No! His first word was probably chauffeur.”

Some pundits briefly viewed Whitmer as a potential running mate with Harris.
