Registrations for EVs in the state have been dramatically increasing in recent years

Spokesperson for Consumers Energy, Brian Wheeler, says electric vehicle charging takes place mostly at home, but it is important to have more charging locations on the road for long trips.

“Those sorts of locations you're going to see will be a gas station or Walmart, say, near the highway, maybe in West Michigan, maybe in northern Michigan, probably around heavily populated areas, like big cities, but really also just along highways, like as you're going up to Mackinac city.”

Wheeler says the plan is to keep up with the rapidly increasing popularity of EVs in the state
