State health officials are warning Michigan residents not to eat a brand of psychoactive candies infused with mushrooms

Michigan’s chief medical executive is warning residents not to eat, sell or serve any flavor of Diamond Shruumz-brand Microdosing Chocolate Bars, cones or gummies.

People in multiple states have become ill after eating these products, reporting a variety of severe symptoms, such as seizure and abnormal heart rates.

26 illnesses have been reported in 16 states with more than a dozen people hospitalized.

No cases have been reported in Michigan, but Diamond Shruumz products can be purchased online or at retail stores nationwide, including smoke and vape shops or places that sell hemp-derived and CBD products.

As these items look similar to regular candy, parents and caregivers are urged to consider discussing this information with their teens even though they are intended for individuals 18 and older.

Retailers should not sell or distribute any of these Diamond Shruumz products, and instead, hold them until further direction is given by the Food and Drug Administration.
