The Michigan Gun Violence Prevention Taskforce is expected to identify the root causes of gun violence, compile and report relevant data and recommend policy changes.

Maya Manuel is the founder of the End Gun Violence in Michigan coalition... a group she helped form following the February 13 mass shooting at Michigan State University. She says the taskforce can work to prevent similar tragedies.

“This includes experts and community leaders who are working to gather to find effective ways to reduce gun violence. This is definitely something that should be viewed as positive and as an important step in making our communities safer.”

The Michigan Gun Violence Prevention Taskforce is open to applications from community members through July 18.
