24-year-old Ricardo Perez Castillo is facing multiple assault charges carrying penalties of up to life in prison, accused a home invasion and stabbing in Plainfield Township early Saturday morning.

Just before 3 AM, Kent County Sheriff’s deputies were called to a house on Ella Terrace Court off Jericho Avenue Northeast.

A man had entered the home and stabbed an 11-year-old girl multiple times.

She was having a sleepover with the homeowner’s daughter who was unhurt.

The homeowner confronted the man and held him at gunpoint until police arrived.

The girl was taken to a hospital for treatment; police say she’s listed as stable.

Investigators believe this was a random attack with no known connections between Castillo and anyone in the home.

Prosecutors charged Castillo with assault with intent to murder, home invasion, assault with intent to commit criminal sexual conduct, and a weapon charge.

He is also charged with one count of illegal entry in a separate incident Saturday in Rockford.
