The two-block section of Fairbanks that will now be called Corewell Drive "is in the middle of the new Center for Transformation and Innovation complex Corwell is building
“The proposed name change helps to formalize Corewell health place as a destination.”
At a public hearing explaining the name change request, Holly Sullivan of Corewell Health said the health care corporation owns all the property on both sides of the two blocks on Fairbanks Street and renaming the section Corewell drive:
“Will provide a clear sense of location for our team members.”
But while Corewell Health gets the name change, the city will still take care of the road and Laura Sussa thinks Corewell should take on that responsibility.
“For all upkeep all maintenance everything for the road as would only be befitting if they are going to have a private road.”
When finished Corwell says their Center for Transformation and Innovation complex will consolidate most of their administrative services at one downtown campus.
"We hope the community sees Corewell health as a health system rooted in Grand Rapids."
