In a statement made on his Facebook campaign page, Ottawa County Chairperson Joe Moss expressed the need to pass the “Resolution to Promote Life.”
“If passed, this resolution will encourage the people of Ottawa County to promote life, protect the unborn, provide resources for expectant mothers, and support organizations which assist mothers and fathers with life affirming decisions. It will also mean that no county staff or taxpayer resources will be allocated to providing for an abortion, or for transportation to abortion providers for the purpose of obtaining an abortion.”
In a statement, Ottawa County Health Department Public Information Officer Allison Clark said, “The Ottawa County Department of Public Health does not provide abortions or transportation to abortion services.”
Currently, Moss and his fellow Ottawa Impact commissioners hold a majority of the 11-seat board.
The board plans on voting on the “Resolution to Promote Life” at Tuesday’s board meeting.
