Meijer has announced a surprise $2 million donation to 30 food bank partners across the Midwest. The funds seek to battle hunger, by feeding into local community food banks which Meijer hopes will create a positive ripple effect across the area.
"We recognize the vital role food banks play in addressing hunger and are proud to stand alongside our partners to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity," said Rick Keyes, President & CEO of Meijer. "We know there is an elevated need in many of our communities, and we want to do our part to help feed our hungry neighbors."
Feeding America West Michigan is among the 30 organizations to receive funding. In 2022, the nonprofit put 19.9 million meals on West Michiganders plate, equating 23.9 million pounds of food.
