The former Van Andel Pavilion at Fulton Manor will be refurbished to include micro apartments. They’ll feature a bathroom, bedroom, and kitchenette. Through a partnership with Grand Rapids real estate investment and property management firm Eenhoorn and Community Rebuilders, a nonprofit committed to ending homelessness, the property at 1450 E. Fulton Street will provide 40 people with short-term stable housing. Here, they can rebuild their lives in a safe environment with support programs delivered via Community Rebuilders’ Nexus Initiative.
Executive Director Vera Beech said, “Community Rebuilders recognizes the urgent need for innovative approaches to stable housing options for those experiencing homelessness. The Nexus Initiative is a reflection of our dedication to not only meet immediate housing needs, but also to foster long-term stability and well-being.”
What’s described as “an Eenhoorn-related entity,” it made a donation toward the purchase and property rehab.
The retrofitting begins this month with units available for occupancy this fall.
