G-M Wood Products/The Right Place

Manufacturer G-M Wood Products is adding jobs and a multi-million-dollar operation in Newaygo. The company is bringing work from out-of-state and overseas to Michigan

G-M Wood Products makes components for wooden door frames and has about 139 employees in Michigan. The company is experiencing significant growth and plans to build a 25,000 square foot facility next to its existing operations in Newaygo, according to an announcement from The Right Place this week. It will also add 25 new jobs.

The company’s vice president announced they are bringing some manufacturing processes and new technology on-site that they were previously sourcing from out-of-state and overseas in order to have better product control, production times and costs.

The Newaygo County Economic Development Partnership and the Michigan Economic Development Corporation worked together to ensure the company moved those operation to Newaygo rather than its other campus in Georgia. They assisted by coordinating state and local resources, including a 50-percent property tax abatement in support of the project from the city of Newaygo.

In addition to the 25 new jobs, G-M Wood Products will make more than $8.6 million dollars in capital investment in the project.
