Some Republicans in Michigan are seeing red – not red states versus blue states - but roughly 600-thousand dollars’ worth of red ink that the state party reportedly owes in outstanding debts.
GOP Chair Kristina Karamo took over the party leadership after losing a bid for Secretary of State while campaigning on the falsehood that the 2020 election was stolen.
She vowed to raise 50 million dollars for the 2024 election cycle.
But Oakland County Republican Party Chair Vance Patrick said on WDET’s Detroit Today program that Karamo is not living up to her promise.
“Unfortunately, the counties and congressional districts are pretty much taking on the burden of fundraising and getting good candidates to run for this next election.”
For her part, Karamo said in an email last week that she expected to be attacked by a “deep state-like operation wanting their unchecked power back.”
