In a virtual meeting on Friday morning, the MSU Board of Trustees voted unanimously to select Kevin Guskiewicz (Gus-coh-wits) as the university’s 22nd president.
Guskiewicz is the chancellor of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He also spent several decades as a faculty member there. Guskiewicz says he’s looking forward to moving to East Lansing.
“As MSU next President, I pledged to build on the university storied legacy of academic and research excellence through a culture of collaboration and servant leadership.”
Guskiewicz has also been appointed as a tenured professor MSU’s Department of Kinesiology College of Education. He’s expected to begin at MSU on March 4.
