Nonprofit Fans of Valley Field is raising money to renovate the ballpark and create a year-round community space.

Valley Field was constructed in 1937. The historic baseball park located on Grand Rapids’ westside is also known as Sullivan Field.

Nonprofit Fans of Valley Field is raising money to renovate the ballpark and create a year-round community space.

Grand Rapids’ Sullivan Field is one of 17 West Michigan placemaking projects sharing $6.1 million. The money from the American Rescue Plan is distributed through the Michigan Economic Development Corporation. Fans of Valley Field recently received $680,000 toward its capital campaign goal of $4.2 million. So far, $3.6 million has been raised. Money for renovating the grandstands, preserving its history with a museum addition along with other amenities.

Fans of Valley Field is working with the City of Grand Rapids and a number of private and public partners.
