UAW President Shawn Fain says talks have not broken down, they’re just not progressing to the union’s liking

The strike by members of the United Auto Workers union has expanded once again.

The UAW is now striking at General Motors’ Lansing Delta Township plant and at the Ford Chicago assembly plant. That means an additional seven thousand additional are now off the job.

UAW President Shawn Fain announced in a livestream today that the third member of Detroit’s automakers will not face an additional work stoppage.

“Our courageous members at these two plants are the next wave of reinforcements in our fight for record contracts we are not calling on any additional members at Stellantis to go on strike”

Fain says there was last minute bargaining going on that delayed the live stream by about 30 minutes - with Stellantis making concessions regarding cost-of-living adjustments and when workers can strike.
