New report shows UAW strike would damage MI economy

UAW Strike
Matt Rourke

The study was conducted by The Anderson Economic Group

The study finds even just a ten-day strike by U-A-W members in their fight for new contracts with GM, Ford, and Stellantis would cause economic losses of more than 5-and-a-half million dollars, much of it here in Michigan.

The Anderson Economic Group did the study. AEG Vice President Tyler Theile says labor is experiencing a post-pandemic culture shift:

“Households workers business owners are refocusing realigning having to adjust to the new normal.”

Theile says there’s less participation in the labor force now… and workers are prioritizing a better work-life balance. The U-A-W has asked for 32-hour work weeks and increased retirement benefits in their proposed contracts. The deadline is less than a month away. I’m RM WDET News.
