Three candidates squared off in the City of Kentwood Tuesday for a spot on the November general election ballot for Commissioner-At-Large.
In a battle of recognizable names, incumbent city commissioner Maurice Groce faced former state representative candidate Lily Cheng-Schulting, as well as JaWhan Jackson, President of United Auto Workers Local 330.
Unofficially as of early Wednesday morning, voters overwhelmingly approved of Groce, who raked in roughly 47 percent of all ballots cast, while Schulting was not far behind at 40 percent.
The two will now battle it out in November.
