Ottawa County Supervisor John Gibbs says he has hired a new senior executive aid but is keeping the name of his new assistant secret

Ottawa County Supervisor John Gibbs says his new senior executive aid starts work on August, 21st. But for now, he does not want to name the person he's hired for the position. Here's Gibbs not answering the question at Tuesday's Ottawa County Commission meeting:

Jacob Bonnema: “When will we know…find out?”

John Gibbs: “I can let you know at any time.”

Bonnema: “How about now…?

Gibbs: “I can introduce you.”

Bonnema: “Yeah, I’d…who is it now?

Gibbs: “I'm not going to get into that right now, but what I would like to do is have you meet him and ah, yea.

Bonnema: “Okay, Is there a reason why we wouldn't make his name known?”

Gibbs: “I don’t want it to be a public spectacle.”

After they took office in January, the new conservative majority on the Ottawa County Board fired their county supervisor and hired Gibbs. He was available after running as a Donald Trump endorsed Republican in Michigan's 3rd congressional district and losing to Democrat Hillary Scholten.

Gibbs says he needs an executive aid to help him. Including benefits, the aid will cost the county over $132,000 a year.
