The Rapid again hosting Active Commute Week

The Rapid

What’s known as “Active Commute Week” is making a return to West Michigan. It kicks off today and runs through most of next week

Active Commute Week kicked off today, supporting sustainable transportation and healthy lifestyles.

The Rapid’s West Michigan Rideshare, in partnership with the West Michigan Sustainable Business Forum, and employers throughout the Grand Rapids area are hosting the week which runs through June 15th.

A news release says this week-long event aims to promote positive changes in individual commuting habits within the community. Through friendly competition, commuters are encouraged to embrace greener methods of transportation, such as taking the bus, walking, running, and cycling to improve the environment and support a healthy lifestyle.

There will be a community celebration on the 2nd floor of Rapid Central Station on Friday, June 16, from 4 pm – 7 pm, to commemorate the end of Active Commute Week and to reward the top commuters with prizes.
