Despite 6-month-old girl not being the target, charges include open murder

In a shooting that shocked the Lakeshore over Easter Weekend, Julio Deadrick Casiano Jr. learned Monday he will stand trial for murder, despite the 6-month-old girl not being the primary target in the shooting.

According to Muskegon County prosecutors, on Good Friday last month, Casiano “opened fire on a group of residents,” however, a stray bullet went inside a nearby home striking 6-month-old, A DOER A’Dourr Malone, who died a few hours later at Trinity Health Hospital.

Shortly after the shooting, Casiano and an accomplice took off in a pickup truck as police gave chase. After a long pursuit, officers were able to take both men into custody.

Now Casiano faces spending the rest of his life in jail after a judge denied bond and sent the case to trial. Casiano is also charged with lying ot police.

Another man was charged in relation to the investigation. Treshawn Lamar Hatcher is accused of tampering with evidence.
