Michigan Republicans are talking up a projected tax cut stemming from state revenue meeting certain benchmarks

Republicans say they deserve credit for the 2015 law that makes the cuts possible.

Republican House Minority Leader Matt Hall is warning Democrats against doing anything to change it.

“We should allow this automatic income tax cut to take effect. It’ll give everyone in this state relief.”

But Democrats say it’s premature to assume it will take effect before revenue projections are final.

Amber McCann is the press secretary for Speaker Joe Tate.

“I appreciate their warning. I always love it when people warn us about policy items.”

Republicans estimate the cuts could add up to around 500-million-dollars.
