As the year comes to a close, United States Representative Bill Huizenga is bidding farewell to Michigan’s 2nd Congressional District.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Republican and United States Representative Bill Huizenga delivered closing remarks on the House floor in Washington D.C, as the Zeeland native has spent the past ten years in Michigan’s Second Congressional District. Forced out due to redistricting, Huizenga thanked his constituents in West Michigan, calling his time there a “deep honor.”
“West Michigan is blessed to have beautiful beaches, world class manufacturing, and an incredible variety of top-notch agricultural produce. But what makes places like Muskegon, Grand Haven, Ludington, Pentwater, Fremont, Baldwin, and Grandville so special are the people that call these communities home…. As I say goodbye to the current Second District, I will never forget the residents who have called the Second Congressional District home over the past 10 years or the memories we have shared.”
In November, Huizenga was elected to the United States House in Michigan’s newly drawn 4th congressional District and will begin serving when the 118th Congress is officially seated on January 3, 2023.
