Muskegon man on the run after assaulting deputy

Sheriff’s Office says Randy Rinard is armed and dangerous

The Muskegon County Sheriff’s office says it is looking for a man considered to be armed and dangerous.

Authorities say a deputy had approached 45-year-old Randy Rinard around 3:00 Saturday under suspicion that Rinard was driving a stolen car.

As law enforcement questioned Rinard about the vehicle, he ran---as the deputy caught up with him, authorities say Rinard assaulted him before taking off again.

So far, he has not been found, while the Muskegon County Emergency Response Team continues to look.

Rinard is described as a white man, five foot eleven. He weighs 240 pounds, and authorities say he is armed with a knife.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Rinard, you're asked to contact the Muskegon County Sheriff's Office at 231-724-6259 or Silent Observer at 231-722-7463.
