Position open since Dr. Bill Pink stepped down in March.

After a nationwide search for its next President, Grand Rapids Community College has narrowed the field down to three finalists for the job.

Stuart Blacklaw is the provost and executive vice president at the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh.

Tim Casper is the vice president for Student Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness at Madison Area Technical College in Madison, Wisconsin.

Charles Lepper is the vice president for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management at Salt Lake Community College in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Whomever the board chooses will have big shoes to fill, after former President Dr. Bill Pink announced his departure from GRCC back in March before being hired as the new President of Ferris State University.

GRCC Board Chair David Koetje then called Pink’s resignation “bittersweet,” saying he was the “right man for the job, at the right time” in a prepared statement.

Meanwhile, the three candidates are expected to visit the campus this month for interviews, the board hopes to have a new president in place by Jan. 1, 2023.
