The formation of “Republicans for Whitmer” comes as Governor Gretchen Whitmer continues to make a play for independent and swing voters.
At the announcement Whitmer referenced her own background growing up in a politically divided household.
“I think that it’s important to always remember we’ve got to be able to sit at the table and talk to one another. And that’s how I was raised and that’s how I govern. And I strive every day to find common ground because I am the governor of Michigan, not a partisan but someone who’s got to get things done for the people of this state.”
Republican challenger Tudor Dixon was not impressed.
Her campaign says it’s focused on getting support from business owners…parents…and law enforcement rather than—quote “Lansing’s big government cocktail crowd.”
