Plainfield-based architect Progressive AE has produced renderings of a new soccer stadium that would house a United Soccer League franchise. The project, and the efforts to bring professional soccer to West Michigan, is the vision of Grand Action 2.0. It’s been the catalyst behind quality-of-life projects like Van Andel Arena, DeVos Place Convention Center, Downtown Market and the planning, financing and construction of a new 12,000 seat amphitheater along the east bank of the Grand River.

One of the potential soccer stadium sites is on the westside of town adjacent to I-131 with Winter Avenue to the west, and Pearl Street to its south neighboring the YMCA. Along I-131 and Mt. Vernon Avenue are a number of Grand Rapids owned parking lots.

In a news release, Grand Action 2.0 said, “The materials submitted to the city for review identify Dash lots as potential sites for development. Just as with the stadium, potential redevelopment of Dash lots is simply in the early review phase. No plan has been finalized and parcels have not been secured.”
