Two men convicted of plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer will be sentenced in December. Adam Fox’s date is Dec. 12. Barry Croft Jr. will return to federal court in Grand Rapids on Dec. 28.

They were convicted of two conspiracy charges Tuesday. Croft also was found guilty of an explosives charge. They face up to life in prison.

Authorities said the kidnapping plot was the culmination of months of disgust about government, especially stay-home orders and other restrictions during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Croft is from Bear, Delaware. Fox was living in the Grand Rapids area when he was arrested. Whitmer, a Democrat, is seeking a second term in the fall election.
