Kelley told no out-of-state trips, no guns

Kelley is charged with taking part in the January 6th insurrection.

A federal judge says Ryan Kelley must show up in court on July 7th for a preliminary hearing. Kelley is charged with taking part in the January 6th insurrection.

Ryan Kelley is one of hundreds of people from across the country facing charges of taking part in the January 6th attack on the US Capitol. But Kelley is the only one running for governor of Michigan.

Kelley asked that he be allowed to carry a gun for self-protection while he campaigns. The judge said no. Kelley asked for loose travel restrictions. The judge said he can only travel within Michigan until he heads to Washington DC for his next court date.

That’s where prosecutors have to persuade a judge they have enough proof to take the case to trial. Kelley has been charged with four misdemeanors. Each carries a penalty of up to a year in prison.
