Grand Rapids police are investigating two homicides that happened over the weekend.

The first incident occurred on Saturday near the 4200 block of Kalamazoo Ave. SE. Grand Rapids Dispatch received 911 calls of shots fired and a possible shooting victim in the parking lot around 11pm. While GRPD officers were investigating the incident, two victims, both males, arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. One of the men died from his injuries. Police say the second victim’s injuries were not life threatening.

A second shooting occurred on Sunday around 11am in the 800 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Street SE. Dispatcher received several 911 calls reporting gunshots and saying a man was down on the street. A 40-year-old male was pronounced dead on scene.
