GOP leaders say the figures are troubling.

Preliminary federal data released today shows Michigan’s gross domestic product was up in the last quarter of 20-21.

The seasonally adjusted numbers from the US Bureau of Economic Analysis place Michigan’s quarterly growth at a little under 6% to finish off last year.

While that’s a little above the Great Lakes region’s average it’s below the nationwide mark by slightly over one percent.

Michigan's Republican Party says the data shows the state is "falling behind."

Overall Michigan’s growth during the fourth quarter of last year placed it 28th in the nation.

For year-over-year change Michigan did better ranking in the top third of the country.

In that category durable goods manufacturing led the state's growth.
