He's back: former President Donald Trump to hold rally in Macomb County

Associated Press

First trip to Michigan since 2020 presidential election.

Former President Donald Trump returns to Michigan this weekend, for a rally in Macomb County, Michigan remains a key player in Trump’s political ambitions.

Trump made Michigan one of his final campaign stops in 2020 and in 2016, when voters in Macomb County handed him the state and, in a very real way, the White House.

Trump also falsely accused Democrats in Michigan, and Detroit in particular, of rigging the 2020 presidential election against him, an allegation repeatedly rejected by courts and officials from both major political parties.

Now Trump is on a tour of selected states, praising candidates he’s endorsing, chastising those who won’t support his baseless claims of voter fraud, and continuing to tease a possible bid for the presidency in 2024.

He’s expected to do the same at Saturday’s rally in Washington Township, the first time Trump has visited Michigan since the last presidential election.
