State Attorney General Dana Nessel will seek a second term. She made the announcement today via a campaign ad released online.
The ad focuses on contraception and family planning rights. Nessel takes aim at comments by three leading Republicans seeking the GOP nomination for Attorney General that restrictions on contraception should be up to states to decide.
“Remember when you could be jailed for using contraception? Me neither”
Michigan also has an abortion ban that would be reinstated if the US Supreme Court overturns the Roe v Wade decision.
Republicans and Democrats will hold preliminary endorsement conventions next month and will formally nominate candidates for attorney general at state party conventions in August.
