Many families are prepping for early spring break travel. And as they do so, many pandemic related restrictions are being lifted just in time for the season. But travelers should know, there are still some ground rules in effect for air travelers, at least for the next couple weeks.

Many families are prepping for early spring break travel. And as they do so, many pandemic related restrictions are being lifted just in time for the season. But travelers should know, there are still some ground rules in effect for air travelers, at least for the next couple weeks.

Travel consultants say there are still deals to be had for those seeking a spring break destination. However, if traveling by air, you should know that some basic rules are still in effect. The Centers for Disease Control recently relaxed mask recommendations for many Americans. However, if you’re flying, nothing has really changed. Here’s Gagnon Travel Owner, JoAnne Verboom.

“The TSA has extended the requirement that everyone will have to continue to wear a mask, if you’re in an airport, on a flight, you have to have a mask on… at least through March 18th. And we’re aware that the flight attendants union is asking the date be extended for safety precautions.”

And if you’re traveling abroad, keep this in mind.

“According to the CDC, anyone who comes into the U.S., whether you’re a US citizen or not, whether you’re vaccinated or not, before you board a flight coming in to the US, you need to provide a negative COVID test.”

Meantime, Verboom reminds travelers of some basic tips. Don’t overpack. Luggage fees can be quite hefty and get to the airport early. About 1 ½ to 2 hours.
