$26 billion opioid settlement reaches final approval

A 26-billion-dollar opioid settlement involving Michigan reached final approval today.

Michigan…45 other states…and thousands of local governments stand to benefit from the agreement with the nation’s top drug distributors over their role in the ongoing opioid crisis.

Details of the agreement were first revealed last year in July.

At the time…the state estimated it could receive up to roughly 800-million-dollars. That would come over the 18-year lifetime of the settlement.

Most of that money will go toward opioid treatment and abuse prevention

The state also won a little under 20-million-dollars in another multi-state opioid settlement announced last year.
