Police make arrest after double stabbing at local Meijer

Two victims were chosen at random Monday evening

After a man randomly stabbed two people in a Wyoming based Meijer grocery store Monday evening, authorities said Tuesday they have made an arrest.

The two stabbings took place around 8 p.m. Monday inside the Meijer on Clyde Park Avenue.

The victims, a 19-year-old man and a 74-year-old man, were taken to a hospital for treatment. Authorities say, both are in stable condition, and both are believed to have been chosen at random during the attack.

Wyoming Police say the stabbings set off a massive manhunt for the suspect as they nearby community wondered if there was a killer on the loose.

“You know he was at large for a while last night, and I know that made people feel a little un-easy, just the randomness of this incident.”

That is Lt. Brian Look of the Wyoming Department of Public Safety. He says the suspect had not been on law enforcement’s radar in the past, and investigators didn’t have many answers as to why the attack occurred other than, there is no reason.

“All information points to their might being some mental illness,” Look said.

The suspect is currently in jail awaiting formal charges, which Look says, most likely will be attempted murder.
