OAG audit finds MDHHS effectively processed PATH program deferral applications

OAG audit finds MDHHS effectively processed PATH program deferral applications

A recent audit shows Michigan effectively processed applications to receive a deferral from a jobs training program

The state health department requires most people receiving cash benefits from the government to take part in a workforce training program. The aim is to help people get and keep new jobs.

But there are some reasons people can defer that training. The Auditor General’s report looks at how well the state processed applications to receive a deferral.

The audit was positive overall. Most of the time, people got deferrals for the right reasons. But the audit does say the state needs to keep better documentation to support those deferrals.

In a statement…the state health department says it’s “always looking to improve” and that it will provide more training to staff.
