Only three days until Christmas and the rush is on to get all those holiday gifts delivered in time for the big day. Delivery services are super busy and the BBB says porch pirates are busy too.
“Porch pirates are very crafty; they’re going to follow those delivery trucks and they’re going to snatch those packages within seconds.”
Katie Grevious is the Communications Manager with the Better Business Bureau serving Western Michigan. The BBB is warning area residents to be on the lookout for porch pirates as the many gift deliveries will continue right up until Christmas. They advise not leaving your packages on your door step very long. Adding tracking is a good idea.
“When you have all these packages coming to your door, we want you to be tracking them, so you know when they are arriving so that you or a trusted friend can be there to get that package right away.”
Grevious adds if you have a video surveillance system make sure you monitor it for yourself and maybe even your neighbor.
“Keep and eye on those. Because if you or your neighbor gets something stolen, police work better with a photo. Then we have description of that suspect and that can help track them down.“
