Safe Haven Ministries receives the BBB Torch Award for Ethics

Last year, Safe Haven Ministries received 2,715 crisis contacts and served 79 households in their shelter, providing 8,866 nights of safety.

Safe Haven Ministries has been honored with the Torch Award for Ethics by the Better Business Bureau. The an accolade highlights an organization’s exceptional commitments to integrity and ethics. Safe Haven Ministries' won the award in the “Nonprofit 20+ Employees Central/Southern Region” category.

In the last year alone, the domestic violence shelter and resource group has seen 2,715 crisis contacts and served 79 households in their shelter, providing 8,866 nights of safety.

The award comes on the heels of Safe Haven Ministries’ 30th anniversary this year, as well as the more than $427k in federal funding the shelter received to support and expand services.

“Our commitment to ethical work and trust over the last 30 years has supported people on some of their hardest days, disrupted systems that contribute to intimate partner violence, and fostered collaboration with organizations throughout our community to prevent and end abuse,” Rachel VerWys, Executive Director, said. “We are honored to be recognized with this award.”
